I've had both mine off with the bike on the wheels. Takes patience, Front is relatively easy, and the 10 mm Craftsman ratcheting open end wrench helps speed up the process there. Rear takes more messing around as the 2 chrome rails have to come off and the sissy bar loosened. As you are repainting chipping and scrathcing coming off is no concern, but will take care and maybe some extra hands to reinstall. Max
